Mommy Uniform
It's not hard to get stuck in a rut of workout pants and an ill-fitting sweatshirt when you are running around after your little ones all day. After I had my children I would find myself putting on workout clothes convinced that if I wore them, I might actually make it to the gym. Instead, I rarely made it to the gym but instead managed to look like a sloppy teenager all day. Lose lose.
And so, it occurred to me having worked in fashion most of my life that I had to come up with a uniform of sorts: a few outfits that made me look hip and put-together but also outfits that were versatile and comfortable. The mommy uniform I wear most often is a favorite pair of skinny jeans, a cashmere sweater, and high-tops. Yes, high-tops. Being in our mid/late thirties, Shannon and I are often pressed by women about how they don't feel comfortable in high-tops because they feel the style is too "young". My response is that you should never wear something that does not make you feel comfortable, but also that there are a huge variety of sneakers that are stylish and range the spectrum from preppy/conservative to edgy/funky....and I am firm believer that there is a hip sneaker for us all! I also love to pair them with leather pants and a blazer, or cut-off shorts and a striped tee in the summer!
Here are a few of our favorites!
Jimmy Choo Calf Hair Sneaker (as worn by Cate)
Golden Goose sneakers (similar to the pair worn by Shannon)
