Project Ro Sham Beaux (Before & After)

Project Ro Sham Beaux was designed for a young family of five who had grown out of their previous Marina flat and upgraded to a four bedroom home in the Richmond.  The husband is originally from back East, and he and his wife lived in New York City for years before landing in San Francisco.  They both have a penchant for color and lean towards the traditional in terms of home decor which presented an interesting challenge because the home they purchased was decidedly modern.

We knew right away that our job was to soften the hard edges and sharpness of the modern build with color and character, while also not "confusing" the house.  This is not a shingled home in Connecticut,  and we wanted the furnishings and fixtures to satisfy the client's more traditional tendencies while keeping things fresh and crisp.

LIVING ROOM BEFORE

The first matter of business was the living room/great room.  The  living room had a flat faux-stone facade, an inset fireplace and a huge wood beam that floated at almost 5'6" from the floor.  The surrounding wall space felt vacant and uninviting.

LIVING ROOM AFTER

We ripped out the fireplace and beam and had custom bookshelves installed with electrical wiring for the overhead library lights.  We installed a more traditional fireplace and marble herringbone surround.  The hooded sconces adjacent to the mirror provide a warm focal point and mood lighting, while the mirror hides a flatscreen TV behind.  Yes, the mirror is actually framing a television.

BAR BEFORE

BAR AFTER

In the same "great room" is a bar area.  The idea was spot-on but the bar lacked personality.  We ripped out the existing clunky wood shelves (that were unreachable for any regular sized human) and added electrical, wallpaper and glass shelves.  But possibly the most dramatic transformation was lacquering all of the wood a vibrant grassy green and switching out all of the hardware.  When we first presented this idea, we thought they may think we had lost our minds...but with some gentle coaxing and trust they let this space come to life and the finished product is a functional, beautiful bar that adds personality and depth to their living space.

BOYS ROOM BEFORE:  These two young boys who share a room had always wanted a bunk bed, and so a dream had been fulfilled.  But we needed it make the rest of the space feel functional and we needed to add some depth and color to the space.  A custom window seat with built-in drawers for storage and swing arm sconces for reading did the trick.  The darling roman shade doesn't hurt either.

BOYS ROOM AFTER

BOYS ROOM AFTER

GIRLS ROOM BEFORE:  This was it.  A crib and old glider.

GIRLS ROOM AFTER:  A "big girl" bed with sweet bedding, a pretty rug and a Kate Spade for Kravet fabric used to make her roman shade.  We used the client's existing tables and lamps next to her bed.  By keeping her room simple and sweet and reusing some existing items, we created an ivory and blush room that is feminine and soft but wasn't a big budget drain.

POWDER ROOM BEFORE:  Greige is not their thing...(or ours for that matter)

POWDER ROOM AFTER:  Dinosaur Skeletons courtesy of the fabulous Abnormals Anonymous and new sconces by Rejuvenation add instant personality to this once boring bathroom.

KITCHEN AFTER

DINING ROOM AFTER

DEN/OFFICE AFTER

The Kitchen, Dining Area and Den are pretty great too...

It is so satisfying to see the transformation of #projectroshambeax.  We are so thankful to our client's for trusting our bold suggestions and collaborating with us on what might just be their forever home...

We hope you enjoyed seeing the before and afters of this lovely space.  For all inquiries, email hello@jackryandesign.com

Cheers to a wonderful weekend,

Friday Buy Day 9.30.16

Friday Buy Day is back...and we're bringing you our favorite sale/value picks for your closet and your casa.

With Fall quickly approaching for most of the country, us Californians are still experiencing extreme heat so this Friday Buy Day will have a little something for everyone.  Summer sale picks for those of us who are just entering our Indian Summer, and transitional/Fall selections for those of you who are watching the leaves turn.

First up, this crinkled tunic by Raga.  Wear it as a cover-up while the heat is still turned up or wear it with skinny black denim and booties in the fall.  Made of cotton, with tassel detail on the neck tie and slightly bloused sleeves this tunic rings in at $98 with all sizes left, for now...

And then there was this sexy, stylish and transitional staple.  With a high-neck, a deep slit and strategic rouching, this body suit is spot on.  Wear it with a silk maxi skirt, or try it with high-waisted wide-leg trousers for a modern take on a sultry seventies vibe.

Next up, this darling skirt (for $54, yes it's true).  Wear this now with gladiator sandals and an open knit top for a breezy and stylish get-up, or pair it with low-heeled booties, a graphic tee and cropped leather jacket as the weather cools off.

Oh, and those jeans we mentioned earlier...here they are.  Perfectly distressed and the perfect length, these AG black jeans are a Fall staple.  Pair them with a chunky knit and sneakers, or wear them with a slinky blouse and leopard heels.  Buy now and wonder how you ever dressed without them later...

By now, everyone knows about our obsession with high-tops, but low-tops are a close second.  And these rose gold Nike's have all of our heart eyes right now.  Sporty, yet glam.  Funky, yet practical.  We love these with cropped flared denim and a black blazer.  We also love them with skinny moto-jeans and a cashmere sweater.  Taking chances reaps rewards...be bold in your sneaker choice and kick-back as you watch the compliments roll in.

This is the kind of piece that gets us excited about Fall: the creamy color, the slouchy turtleneck, the boucle texture and the perfect length (not too long so you can wear it with skirts as well as pants).  We love this with cropped denim and the rose-gold Nike's above for a casual chic look, or pair it with a leather pencil skirt and heels for your children' back-to-school night functions.  At under $100, this alpaca-blend sweater looks and feels much more luxe than the price tag reflects.

Moving on from your closet to your casa, we have selected some of our favorite Fall pick-me-ups:

1.  An inexpensive take on an overdyed Oushak, this rosey rug will add depth and chic to any room (think entry, dining, living, bedroom)

2.  This charcoal velvet, low daybed is classic, rich and the price can't be beat.  Try it against a blank wall with an art gallery above, or in front of a window with a floor lamp and a fur throw.

3.  And then there's that fur throw: the best, easiest and warmest way to welcome Fall.

4.  This floor lamp by Commune Design x West Elm is on sale and is the perfect example of tailored mid-century design.  Understated, elegant, modern.

5.  Part marble, part malachite this cheese board is all chic.  The perfect price for a gift and an instant mood-lifter as your prepping your platter.

6.  Lastly, this bistro table is a versatile and stylish addition to that empty corner in your Kitchen.  Top it with fresh florals and tuck in 2 leather stools for a functional, yet space saving dining area.

Hope you enjoyed this week's Friday Buy Day...

Have a wonderful weekend!

Friday Buy Day July 8 2016

We hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July Holiday!  We spent the weekend split between wine tasting in Wine Country and glamping in Santa Barbara, and we are still recovering from our over-indulgences in food and drink...

July is one of the best times of year for shopping, and the sales going on right now are awesome.  This week we are bringing you a mix of classic staples, Summer favorites and even a more"Fall" feeling jacket (we do live in San Francisco after all)...all on Sale!

First up, this darling pair of gladiator style sandals.  Simple, with clean and unfussy straps, these sandals offer the perfect amount of edge without trying too hard.  They come in nude and black and are now only $75 (from $150).  They look great with a flirty skirt, or denim shorts and are stylish enough to pair with ankle length denim and an off-the-shoulder blouse for date night.

A smocked waist, exposed shoulder and embroidered hemline make this dress your perfect Summer frock.  Pair it with the sandals above and grab your cropped leather jacket for an ensemble that will take you from Brunch to a BBQ in style (P.S. it is $130 with all sizes left, for now)

Claire V is one of our go-to handbag brands, particularly for the oversized clutch...and we love this linen version in a powder blue.  Crisp, classic and roomy enough for sunglasses, lipstick and your keys, this clutch has timeless appeal and an easy price tag (on sale for $82 from $165).

This is my favorite type of blouse...slightly romantic, a bit sexy and interesting without being overly noticeable (so you can wear it many times, styled in different ways).  I love the pleated silk, the tassel tie detail and the ruffled neckline...and the front is just as ethereal and breezy as the back.  Priced 40% off with all sizes left, this is a blouse you will wear now with denim shorts and gladiator sandals, and in the Fall layered under a tweed jacket with booties.

Citizens of Humanity denim are a great fit for a lot of people, and if you are one of them...these Avedon skinny jeans are the perfect "cropped" ankle length, have a good amount of stretch for a snug yet comfortable fit and the wash will take you from Summer right into Fall.  At $138 with all sizes left, your cost per wear will be well worth it.

I know it's Summer in a lot of places, but it is overcast and cold in San Francisco (sigh) so this textured weave IRO Jacket is for all of you.  A leather belt, roomy bracelet sleeves and an open collar make this jacket the perfect topper to skinny jeans and sneakers or try it with leather leggings and boots in the Fall.  It is 60%OFF making it almost impossible not to purchase !

Okay, now back to clothing for the rest of the Country who get to enjoy sunshine in summertime. Our last Friday Buy Day pick is this darling gingham peplum blouse . Try it with white denim and ankle-tie sandals for a clean and classic look.  Or I'd pair it with distressed denim shorts and white Superga high-tops for a more tomboy take.  In the Fall, I love this with a black pencil skirt and leopard pumps for Back-to-School night, or try it with a fitted blazer, dark denim and smoking slippers. On sale for $79 with an ADDITIONAL 40% off using code SALETIME, buy your size today before it is gone.

Hope you enjoyed our favorite sale pick for this week.  Happy Friday.  Happy Weekend.  Happy Shopping.

Friday Buy Day (on Monday)

Summer is finally here and we are bringing you our favorite sale picks from around the web to kick off your leg-baring days ahead.

First up, this sexy dress by for Love and Lemons.  Nude lining peaks through the beautiful lace cut-outs and the flared sleeves are a perfect complement to the deep-v.  If you are a little nervous about the low neckline, try wearing this with a delicate lace bralette in a similar ivory color that provides a little extra coverage without taking away from the feminine playfulness of this beautiful dress.  Now on sale for 40% off the original price, this sexy dress can be worn with a leather jacket and suede cut-out heels for a night out, or with ankle-wrapped sandals and a top knot for a birthday brunch.

We absolutely love these bralettes from Urban Outfitters!   With a scalloped neckline in the front and a sheer lace back they are perfect for layering under a racer-back tank or peaking out of a low cut dress when you want a little extra coverage (see above).  They come in a variety of colors and are now on sale for $20!  Stock up and thank us later...

There isn't too much else to say about these sandals except that you NEED them in your closet.  Part espadrille, part gladiator they are the perfect Summer accomplice to cropped jeans, flirty skirts, floaty cover-ups and off the shoulder dresses.  At under $130, the price is hard to beat for a pair of shoes that should forever replace those flip-flops you have (unless you are getting a pedicure of course).

There are few outfits we love more than an embroidered, slinky blouse with ripped jeans and high-heels.  There is something so simple, yet so sexy about such an effortlessly chic look.  This tunic is divine.  The tassel trim, the gathered wrists, and the intricate embroidery make it a necessary addition to your closet.  Pair it with destroyed denim and suede cut-out heels, or try it tucked into flared denim with stacked wedges.  This blouse is the definition of bohemian elegance.

The perfect Summer denim is here...distressed at the knee and frayed at the hem, these Joe's Jeans will take you from sneakers to stilettos.  With all sizes left and hovering on sale around $130, act fast and scoop up your size of this stylish Summer staple!

And you know Summer is on our minds when we start blogging about swimwear.  This crochet black one-piece is sleek and chic.  With a plunging neckline and open back it channels classic glamour and modern lines...not to mention it hides any tummy while still looking utterly sexy.

And lastly, this cover-up.  Cover-ups are kinda like sneakers...we really (really) love them and we are constantly on the hunt for some new additions to our collections.  But, much like sneakers, they can get really pricey...and so it is even more thrilling to fall in love with one that is super reasonable priced (and by super, we're talking $54!!!).  This breezy caftan is effortless, chic and belongs in your suitcase for your next sunny getaway.

We hope you enjoyed this week's Friday Buy Day...Today is the first official day of Summer and so it feels fitting that we are bringing you our favorite sale/value picks from around the web with sunshine on our minds!

The Rad Trad Entry

Traditional design no longer means scrolled legs and fussy valances in maroon and forest green.  New traditional design, or "rad trad" as we affectionately call it, consists of bold colors, clean lines and a mix of more commonly traditional items (such as a colorful antique style rug) with more unexpected elements (like a vintage lacquered credenza).

Friday Buy Day 5.21.16

It's Friday again, which means it's Buy Day again (and you may even have some funds saved up because we haven't written a Friday Buy Day in a couple of weeks!).  The weather is warm(ish) and we have some fun BBQ's and end-of-the-year parties lined up, so this week we are bringing you our favorite sale/deal picks with Summer on our minds.

                                                           Summer Staple

                                                           Summer Staple

Here is your Summer top.  A crisp white cotton, a delicate off the-shoulder sleeve and an elastic neckline to accommodate for movement.  Wear it with denim shorts and sandals, or tuck it into high-waist, wide-leg culottes for an on-trend look!  At $46 (yes, I repeat $46) this darling top will definitely up your warm weather game without emptying your wallet.

Oh, and those denim shorts we just mentioned...here they are.  More of a "boyfriend" interpretation, this perfectly distressed pair by BlankNYC are slightly slouchy and the perfect mate to an off the shoulder top or an open knit tank.  Wear them with white sneakers and a striped tee for a chic nautical look or try them with a leather jacket and gladiators for a more downtown vibe.

As everyone knows, we have a mild to severe obsession with high-tops but when high-tops won't do, we love these netted "low-tops" by Tretorn.  A true classic, we love these sneakers paired with just about everything.  Try them with an embroidered top and chambray skirt, or add a little edge and wear them our favorite way with distressed cut-offs and a moto inspired leather jacket...the Panama hat is optional(:

We know it's almost Summer but that doesn't mean you won't be wearing a jacket...even Southern California nights can be chilly...not too mention everything looks better with an awesome black leather jacket.  This one is under $275(!!!!!) and is made of calfskin leather with perfect moto inspired detailing, no rockstar boyfriend required(:  The sizing is UK so subtract 4 to get your US sizing (i.e.: UK size 10 is US size 6) and get your true size.  This brand can run a little small, but the best black leather jackets are fitted and worn with confidence.  Treat yourself to a staple that will never go out of style.

How darling is this outfit?  Wear are loving the matching top and skirt combo trend and at under $150 for BOTH this is the perfect way to indulge in a trend without feeling wasteful.  With delicate embroidered trim and a feminine flounce style, this ensemble is sure to invite some complimentary discussion.  Wear it with ankle wrap sandals for a chic, casual look or try it with platform wedges and a top-knot for a friend's shower.

Lastly, this darling poncho by Ella Moss.  Now $93 from $258, we love this caftan style topper as a poolside cover-up just as much as we love it with skinnies and wedges.  The fringe detailing is spot-on and the pops of orange are a cheerful addition to the heathered oatmeal color.  Wear it on a plane with white jeans and sandals,  or pack it on your next trip (takes up virtually no space and  is super versatile).  This is a great piece for a great price.

Happy Weekend!

Cheers,

Cate & Shannon

Friday Buy Day 4.15.16

Hey party people it is Friday and we are so excited for a warm weekend here in SF (a scorcher in Palm Desert for sure)!  As usual, we have scoured the internet for the best finds at the best prices...here are our top picks this week:

Because it is definitely beginning to feel like Spring around here, we had to include a chic cover up.   This one from Eberjey is barely $100 and is flattering on all shapes and sizes!  A cotton blend with beautiful lacey draped sleeves and intricate cut-outs this bathing suit topper is feminine and chic.

These sandals make me happy just looking at them.  The bright colors, the pom-pom fringe and the wrap around ankle are spot-on trend with zero guilt for indulging ($89).  The perfect accessory for a simple white dress, denim on denim or the cover-up above.

Coated raspberry skinny jeans with moto-inspired zippers?  Yes, please.  Level 99 treated denim are sure to please your inner vixen and your bank account (on sale for under $100 with all sizes left except 27...).  Pair these during the day with black gladiator sandals and a draped tee shirt.  For a night out, try them with a racer-back tank, black blazer and heels.  They'll also look great come Fall with a chunky knit sweater and high-tops.

Simple, sexy, sophisticated. We love the draped neckline (add a black bralette for more coverage), the length (this dress is probably best on us girls who are under 5'6...it's a shorty), and the 3/4 sleeve to show off a cool cuff or two.  Add an ankle-wrapped heel and a pink pout and be on your way.

This oversized Vince pullover is a great addition to your favorite basics.  Pair it with ripped denim and sandals for a chic and casual look.  Or wear it over leather leggings with sneakers for a plane flight.  Flattering on all body types and a heatherred cream color that goes with virtually everything, this pullover is now 40% off with all sizes left.

If you're in the market for a new swimsuit, this Mara Hoffman one is amazing.  The keyhole cut is sexy while the side-vents are high enough to cover any "love-handles" that might be lingering around your mid-section(:  Throw on a pair of wide leg linen pants and a straw hat and you will surely be the chicest guest at the pool.

Lastly, we'd be remiss if we didn't include a hat during the beginning of this festival weekend(:  This classic one by Hat Attack is now more than 50% off with a timeless color combination of grey and black.  Protect your beautiful face in style.

We hope you enjoyed this week's Friday Buy Day...whether you are at Coachella, here in San Francisco or elsewhere we hope your plans include enjoying a cocktail 9or cocktail) and some sunshine.

Cheers!

Friday Buy Day 4.7.16

It's been a crazy couple of weeks but Friday Buy Day is back, and bringing you the best of Sale.  Always in Style, always on sale...

This weather is all over the place, but one thing that remains constant is the cool-factor of a perfectly washed denim jacket.  This J-Brand denim jacket is on sale for barely over $100 (from almost $300) with all sizes left and will be your loyal companion through the Spring and Summer.  Top a floral maxi dress, or layer it over a striped tee with leather leggings and sneakers.  There is truly no wrong way to style this classic piece...

I love a good maxi dress, mainly because my legs are rarely tan enough to feel comfortable wearing anything shorter.  But even if your gams are well tanned, this vibrant maxi dress is a cheerful contribution to your Spring wardrobe.  With an open neckline, covered buttons and cinched waist, this delicate dress is feminine with a slight bohemian vibe.  Pair it with a Panama hat and gladiators for a breezy, chic look.

Is it a shoe?  is it a bootie?  Is it a sandal?  Or a gladiator?  It is all of the above.  This taupe suede shootie with a wrap around ankle strap is the sexy addition to any outfit.  Wear them with distressed denim and an embroidered peasant top or with a flirty skirt and a denim jacket.  Over half off and almost all sizes left, for now....

I am speaking from a place of honesty and knowledge when I say this is one of my best purchases ever.  And now it is majorly on sale (but still full price everywhere else).  It may seem odd to have a dressy lace romper but in the last month or so I have worn it to a school cocktail event, a rehearsal dinner, a friend's 40th Birthday and an engagement party.  The back cut-out is high enough to only highlight the spinal cord(: and nothing else, and the flared leg is on-point while elongating your legs.  Wear with a high-heel and top knot...add a raspberry lip and be on your way.

I know I suggest Frame Denim on the reg, but it's hard to stay mum when it's fantastic denim, on sale, with almost all sizes left knowing thats what most of us wear almost every single day.  So, here you go.  Charcoal, distressed, ankle-length Frame denim...you're welcome.

How rad is this necklace?  A statement piece for sure, but not in a preppy-jewel necklace kind of way...This jade necklace feels modern, graphic and bold.  Wear it with a simple tee, the charcoal distressed denim and the suede ankle-wrapped sandals above for a rocker meets boho vibe.  Or pair it with a black maxi and grecian sandals for laid-back glamour.  Feels like a piece you may have inherited from an Egyptian princess, and for a little over $100 (with promo INTHEFAM) it is well worth the spend to look so stylish.

Hope you enjoyed this week's top sale picks from around the web.  Add your email below if you'd like these picks delivered directly to your inbox.

Have a great weekend!

Cate & Shannon

Friday Buy Day 3.4.16

It's going to be another rainy weekend in San Francisco which presents us with the perfect opportunity to curl up by the fire and do some online shopping(:  It's pretty much Spring, but feels much like Winter which leaves us all sorts of options when it comes to buying (and wearing) clothes.

It may seem like an unusual time to buy a faux fur vest but trust me, you'll wear it.  This one by Twelfth Street Cynthia Vincent is a cool ombre of taupe, cream and black with an intricately embroidered front seam adding a slight bohemian edge.  It is on sale for $138 from $345 (YES you read that correctly) with most sizes left in stock...for now anyway.

Leather, Check.  Fringe, Check.  Sexy Cutaway at Shoulders, Check.  This leather dress by Parker is fun, flirty and will be the talk of the party.  Rock it to a Birthday party, an Engagement party or for that party you don't even know you have yet, but will surely pop up in the near future.  You won't be able to keep yourself off of the dance floor once you see how the fringe twirls...

This top is a MUST HAVE.  The lace up neckline is sexy, the color is timeless and the style looks just as chic with leather moto skinny jeans as it does tucked into a pencil skirt for work.  I also love this blouse tucked into high-waist denim with the faux fur vest above for a stylish retro vibe.

Everyone who knows me, knows I have a borderline jacket obsession.  Whether in active wear or a formal gown, my outfit usually requires a jacket (especially living in San Francisco).  This chic Parisian label Sandro is one of my favorite brands and this jacket is a perfect example why.  A cotton blend midnight blue jacket with tiered fringe trim...it is polished and tailored yet the fringe and the concealed placket make it decidedly more interesting than a typical outer layer.  At 60% off the original price, this won't last long on sale but will prove to be a valuable addition to your jacket collection.

I am loving the wedge platform sandals that seem to be popping up in fashion magazines and stylish boutiques.  They provide the comfort of a flat sandal, while offering the height of a 3 inch heel.  They are casual enough to wear with denim cutoffs and an embroidered tunic, while they are dressy enough to wear with a silky maxi to a rehearsal dinner...they also look fantastic with flared denim and a cropped ruffled top.  These pair by Marni are over 50% off and come in this beautiful cobalt color as well as a more traditional cognac.

Lastly, these perfectly distressed ankle length denim.  Everyone needs a pair.  Wear them with sneakers, a tee and leather jacket or dress them up with a slinky blouse and pumps.  On sale for barely over $100 with most sizes left these will surely add some "cool" factor to your closet.

Hope you enjoyed this week's Friday Buy Day!  Stay dry and start (online) shopping ...

Why We Love White Sofas

A lot of people thought I was crazy for buying a white sofa with 2 children under 5, but I can honestly say that our white fabric furniture has proven to be one of our favorite and most durable purchases (just make sure it is slip-covered or the pillow covers have zippers so that you can take them off for cleaning).

Friday Buy Day 2.5.16

This is that funny time of year in Fashion when it is still chilly out (especially for you East Coasters) but Spring is around the corner.  This week's Friday Buy Day covers all the bases with some cold weather staples and some pieces that will definitely get you excited for Spring.

First up, this chic puffer by Rebecca Minkoff.  Sporty enough to wear with your "active wear" while stylish enough to layer over a cashmere sweater with a scarf, jeans and boots.  I love the bracelet length sleeves allowing your layers to peek through and the glossy finish adds polish to an otherwise casual jacket.

Next up, this chic clutch by Claire Vivier.  Black and blue have long since been a favorite color combination of ours and this bag nails it with the suede body and the patent leather pinstripe.

These booties are divine.  There are plenty of options when it comes to booties but it is really hard to find a perfect pair.  These check all the boxes.  The fold-over cuff, a slightly slouchy style and the 3 inch heel height allows you to wear these all day and into the night.  The suede is a perfect transitional material to take you from Winter into Spring.  Wear them now with ankle length denim and a chunky knit, or pair them with a flirty sundress or jean shorts come Spring.  On Sale for $168 with almost all sizes left, these booties are a must-have,

This navy and white printed wrap dress is feminine, flirty and utterly wearable (keep in mind the model is 5'10 so it's a great length for "most" of us).  Love the cap sleeves and the wrap waist is super flattering, I picture this dress with gladiator sandals and a woven hat for a day of wine-tasting, or amped up a bit with the booties above and a black moto-inspired leather jacket to watch a concert. If you're worried the v is too low, layer it over a lace bralette for added coverage.

Chunky ribbed knit.  Off the shoulder.  Vented hem.  Charcoal grey wool and cashmere blend (and on sale, of course).  Done.

The Vince Shootie: Part Sandal, Part Bootie.  Made of the most versatile taupe suede, this shoe can be worn with ripped denim and a slouchy tee just as easily as it can be worn with a flirty skirt and knit tank.  On sale with almost all sizes left, this will be your go-to sandal from now until...

And lastly, the flyaway sweater by Mara Hoffman.  Cream cotton, slightly frayed edges and an open back make this edgy outerwear perfect for layering over your favorite sports bra on your way to Pilates, or for layering over a longer tank with skinny jeans and high-tops.  Washable, wearable and 60% off the original price with all sizes left (:

Hope you enjoyed this week's Friday Buy Day with our favorite sale picks for now and later.  Have a great weekend!

Creamy Neutrals for Yourself and Your Home

We can't get enough of winter whites these days.  From Interiors to outfits, we love layering soft neutrals in creams, whites, grays and taupes with tonal texture.  Below are some of our favorites right now....

1.  This textured piece feels abstract and modern, yet earthy and organic at the same time.  A beautiful addition to any room.

2.  Cream sweater.  White jeans.  Yes please.  Now, later, always.

3.  A taupe leather cross-body with brass hardware packs more punch than basic black while offering even more versatility.

4.  These darling jute pendants come in a variety of shapes and we love a cluster of three dropped at different heights above a dining table for a chic bohemian vibe.

5.   Whether on a sofa, a leather chair or atop your bed, an African mud cloth pillow is just the right amount of neutral while still delivering a graphic punch.

6.  A more polished version of the classic wayfarer: tortoise frame, brass arms.

In your home or on your body, don't be afraid of whites in Winter.  Embrace the depth you can achieve by layering multiple tonalities and textures.  From your fingertips to your walls, there is always a place to incorporate creamy neutrals in your personal and interior style.

Winter Essentials...Under $200!

When we think about the core basics that are essential to a casual, yet stylish Winter look we think about these 8 essentials...and all (except one) are under $200!  Great style does not come in the quantity of clothes in your closet but rather your ability to buy great pieces, layer them, mix them and reinvent them depending on the occasion.  Here are our Winter must-haves:

First up, this cozy textured scarf by Wildfox.  Wear it layer over a tee with a leather jacket and sneakers, or try it with a cashmere sweater, leather leggings and over the knee boots.  Neutral enough to wear all of the time, while bold enough to add interest to any basic ensemble (plus it's on sale right now!)

Here we go with the Frame Denim again!  But, truly one of our favorite denim lines and these bad boys are on major sale with almost all sizes left!  The perfect color, the perfect amount of distressing and the perfect length...if Frame Denim is the brand for you, buy these now and wonder what you ever did without them later (keep in mind they are final sale).

The ONLY essentials we are including that are over $200(and barely)...these Isabel Marant look alikes are a non-negotiable.  The perfect heel height to wear all day, they are the solution for the outfits when sneakers feel too casual, but high-heels don't seem right either.  Wear them now with distressed jeans (above), a black cashmere sweater and the checked scarf(above) for a sohphistacted yet stylish outfit or try them in the Spring with a floral mini-dress.  They will even look great with jean shorts and floaty peasant top in the Summer!  Not only are they Winter essentials...they will be essential in Spring and Summer too!

And then there is the elusive "perfect white v-neck".  Essential? Absolutely.  Easy to find?  A lot of trial and error....  We have tested most tees on the market and this is definitely one of our favorites.  A deeper V, tissue soft cotton, and a longer length make this the perfect layering tool for all of your Winter knits and jackets.

Love, love, love!  A little bit casual, a little bit luxe..this faux fur trimmed cardigan delivers a lot of style for under $100!  Wear it with a white tee, distressed denim and booties, or try it with skinny leather leggings and high-tops..it's a must-have.

The perfect plaid shirt has endless possibilities.  This one is cut a little more narrow than some of it's competitors, ensuring a more feminine look.  We love it with skinny sweats and high-tops just as much as we love it tucked into flared denim with wedges.  it is your prefect travel companion, and looks fantastic peeking out of a leather jacket or a fur vest.

And because no Winter Essentials list would be complete in our book without a pair of high-tops, we are sharing these Superega navy blue napa leather sneakers.  Slightly more dressy than their canvas cousins, these awesome sneakers play nicely with everyone: skinny jeans and cashmere sweaters, distressed "girlfriend" denim and plaid shirts...they even enjoy stylish sweats and faux fur jackets.  To all of you who aren't sure you can "pull off" the whole high-top thing...you can!  It's a New Year, and your closet doesn't need more stuff...it needs better, more stylish stuff.  It needs essentials that you will wear and pair with each other.

Now that you have your to-do list, get to it!

English Manor Transformation

When we first parked outside Project English Manor, Shannon and I were both captivated by it's ivy covered facade and impeccably landscaped gardens.  The homeowners had recently moved there from a casual California ranch style home and the relaxed nature of their previous furnishings did not suit this new home.

We toured the home and knew immediately that we wanted to ease the formality without losing the enchantment.

Below are some of the Before and Afters of our project.

              Living Room BEFORE

              Living Room BEFORE

             Living Room BEFORE

             Living Room BEFORE

In the Living Room, our goal was to create a space that would authentically reconcile the formality of the abundant woodwork and the grand scale of the room with the young family's casual lifestyle.  To be clear, when we first met our new clients they had not used the Living Room. Ever (and they had lived there for 10 months).  They said it just felt too big, too formal, too uncomfortable...we wanted to change that.

We presented multiple different layouts for this large space and were thrilled when the family chose "Option #3": a cozy sitting area near the fireplace and a custom pool table residing in the second half of the room.  We all agreed that the pool table was an equalizer and would ensure the space would (actually)get used. Children and adults alike love a game table challenge...and when the table isn't in use for a billiards match, we've been told it regularly doubles as a theatrical stage for their 5 and 7 year old girls:)

Next up was the Entry.  It felt a little bland and dark and we wanted to create a more welcoming, almost gallery-like feel for the space.

                    Entry BEFORE

                    Entry BEFORE

The homeowners were an extremely important part of this transformation as the wife had previously worked for numerous galleries in New York and the couple provided all of the inspired artwork for the gallery wall.

We scored a vintage Murano lamp on Chairish, and had a custom Madeline Weinrib runner made for the stairwell.  Couple those stunners with the couple's eclectic mix of art on the walls and the new entry is a quirky, perfectly imperfect space.  When you enter the home, the cold bare feeling has now been replaced by a cheerful and interesting mix of textures, colors and art.

Then, there was the dining room.  With it's beautiful millwork and intricately beamed ceiling it was one of the most charming rooms we'd seen.  But because it was so...so brown, the stunning craftsmanship and detail were lost.

                 Dining Room BEFORE

                 Dining Room BEFORE

                 Dining Room BEFORE

                 Dining Room BEFORE

When we presented our plans for the dining room,  we knew the homeowner was either going to love us or kick us out of her house for being insane.  We are so grateful she did the former.

We proposed teal walls, a wallpapered ceiling, ripping the doors off of a storage closet and installing an antique mirror backing and dry bar instead...who needs to store dishes anyway?  Then we proposed recovering vintage chairs in a black and white buffalo check to circle  a traditional round table.  We wanted it to be subtle(:

We are so thankful that this client is so bold and trusting...and the room has truly evolved from being virtually unused to being one that brings delight to their family regularly ( it may or may not have something to do with the fact that it hosts a bar adjacent to the pool table).

The last Before and After we are bringing you from our English Manor project was their powder room renovation.

            Powder Room BEFORE

            Powder Room BEFORE

The powder room was a bit dark and dull with the potential to be so much more.

We ripped out the sink and the attached (ugly) cabinet in favor of a custom counter made of Calcutta Oro marble.  Cole & Sons wallpaper in Nuvolette lent some drama and depth to the small space and we scored the mirror at a consignment store in San Francisco.  The result is a space that feels old and aged, while feeling fresh and current at the same time.  Although the smallest room in the house, it is certainly one of our favorites.

         Powder Room AFTER

         Powder Room AFTER

We can honestly say this has been one of our favorite projects to date. The architecture of the home and the boldness of the client forced us to go beyond the comfortable scope of California Cool or Rustic Modern. The result is a colorful, layered and comfortable home with a splash of quirky English sensibility.

Friday Buy Day 1.1.15

I know shopping may seem like the last thing you want to do right now, but if you received any gifts you want to return or scored some gift cards you want to put to good use, now is one of the best times of year to take advantage of amazing sales all over the place.  We're bringing you our stylish favorites, all on sale.  Get your size before it's gone.

First up, this stylish sweater from Pam & Gela.  Business in the front, party in the back...this is the perfect cold weather pairing with leather skinnies and sneakers.  It drapes in just the right places to cover up the spare tire that has slowly been expanding since late November(:  Wear it with a lace bralette to avoid any unsightly bra straps, or layer it over a longer tee for a more casual look.  The stripes are perfect peeking out of an army green jacket and the dropped shoulder gives it a slouchy, relaxed feel.  Priced at $116 (from almost $200)and all sizes left...for now.

Next up, this darling dress (yes I said dress) by Free People.  I actually love stuff like this, because although it looks like a tunic on the 5'10 model I know it will be just the right length for someone (like me) who is half a foot shorter(:  For now, try it under a fur vest with over the knee boots and tights.  Come Spring, pack it on your next vacation as a chic cover-up, or try it with strappy gladiator sandals and a straw hat.  If you happen to be blessed with height, this would look great as a tunic over flared denim with wedges or with black skinnies and booties.

The color, the heel height, the ankle strap, the price...fantastic.  It is difficult for me to wear 4" heels, and there is nothing less sexy than a girl awkwardly wobbling down the street in heels sky high.  These indigo suede heels by Joie are 3.5" inches and will add color and chic to any outfit.  Try them with an all black ensemble for an evening out, or pair them with a bright floral dress for a baby shower.  They would also look great with slouchy ripped jeans, a rocker tee and a blazer.  They are barely $100 from $300 and have most sizes left!  Get yours now and thank me later.

As you all know, my passion for sneakers is almost matched by my passion for sweats.  I love them both.  A lot.  This pair by Current Elliot have a darkened camo print, side zip pockets (so they don't bulge at your hips) and a drawstring waist.  Wear them with...wait for it...high-tops and a leather jacket for a cozy but stylish Sunday movie night, or try them in the Summer with a slouchy tank, flip flops and a top knot for an uber cool "off duty" look.

I regularly buy dresses, even when I don't have an upcoming party or event (pretty much always on sale, thank you Friday Buy Day).  I do this because the few times I have not done this I end up spending hours and hours frantically shopping for a dress and then way too much money buying a dress I don't even like that much because I need the dress right away.  Save yourself the headache and consider doing the same for yourself.  This fantastic dress oozes cool.  With its champagne coloring and intricate beadwork it is feminine with a bohemian edge.  Pair it with cognac suede knee-high boots for a friend's birthday bash or slip on some strappy bronze heels for an evening wedding.  Priced under $245 get the look of Roberto Cavalli for 1/10 of the price.

How cool is this necklace?  Made by Fiona Paxton with a bib of beads and feathers it is the perfect accessory to any outfit in need of one.  Try it with a black cashmere sweater, ripped jeans and moto boots now or layer it over a printed maxi dress in the Spring.  It is fresh, cool, timeless and a piece none of your friends will have but all of your friends will want.  Standing out for being stylish is always a good thing.

Lastly, this cozy poncho by Splendid.  With side-vents, a relaxed body and sophisticated color combination it is the perfect topper to a "jeans and tee" ensemble.  Priced under $150, it will become a go-to piece in your closet.  Throw it on over leather leggings for a chic travel outfit, or try it with skinny cords and sneakers for a park run.  It is classic, stylish and utterly wearable.

We hope you enjoyed our first Friday Buy Day of 2016....one down, 51 more to go!  If you want these weekly sale picks delivered directly to your inbox feel free to add your email address below.

Cheers to a happy, healthy and fantastic New year!

Holiday Gift Guide for HIM

Alas, the Holiday Season is here. And if you are anything like me, I have no problem finding gifts for girlfriends, sisters, female teachers and moms...it's the dudes that always present the problem!  Well, not this year...my spy skills and human research have netted me (and you) a comprehensive list of items big and small, and one if not all are sure to hit the spot for the main men in your life.

First up, new undies. And not just any undies.  These undies, according to multiple males whom I trust, are life changing. Without getting into the details of how they keep everything seperated and comfortable, I am assured by the die-hard converts that they do indeed keep everything seperated and comfortable:). Probably not appropriate for your husband's boss or your Manny, but a great gift or stocking stuffer for the boyfriend or spouse.

Next up, these sneakers... Vans did a collaboration with J. Crew and the result is an age-appropriate sneaker perfectly cool without trying too hard.  With a suede body and exclusive colors, I love these with jeans and plaid button-up...way cooler than loafers and way less expensive too (priced at $70).

My husband absolutely swears by his, so although this will not be a gift I can give him, I am sharing the love. For all of those other tech-enthusiasts or regular travelers out there, this HyperJuice External Battery pack can charge ALL models of MacBook and 2 iPads at the same time.  It is compact, yet extremely powerful.  Bring it on your next work trip, your next family vacation or just leave an extra one in your laptop bag to avoid being hooked up to a random power plug in the middle of the United terminal next time you fly and you realize you used all your juice watching Trainwreck on the inbound flight(:

And then there's that perfect button down that would go so nicely with the stylish Vans above.  This one, from Marine Layer, is the crisp combination of reds and blues with some chambray detailing at the collar.  The clever sizing runs from Small, to Smedium, and Marge (in between Medium and Large, to Larger (not quite XL).  This makes it easy to find the right size for your man, dad, brother or nephew.

Shockingly, a piece of electronics comes with my highest recommendation as THE Holiday gift for Him.  This remote has changed my life.  My husband has us hooked up to Apple TV, Netflix, games for our son, Sonos, and the list goes on and on and on....With our old collection of remotes, I felt as if I needed a Phd to actually turn on the correct movie, show, game or music selection.  This remote gets rid of the need for all other remotes and literally has instructions on the touch screen like "Watch TV", whereby you press that button, point and wait.  When you decide you want to "Watch a Movie", you repeat the previous action.  Genius(:

Lastly, these socks have really taken the world by storm, and for good reason.  They are awesome.  They are constructed of the finest Supima Cotton, with a reinforced toe and deep heel and they are super stylish.  They have fun collaborations with different designers and are sure to get noticed peeking out of your jeans or dress pants.  They come in a huge variety of colors and combinations and would be a great stocking stuffer for your favorite guy.

Whether for their stockings or something more significant, we hope you found some inspiration for the men in your life this Holiday Season.

Xxo,

Cate & Shannon

Friday Buy Day 12.4.15

We took last week off for the Thanksgiving Holiday but are back at it this week...our favorite finds, always in style, always on sale.

Tis the Season for sparkles and fur, but it is sometimes hard for me to buy "Holiday" clothing because I know I will only wear it once, maybe twice and then I will tire of it.  I love a "Holiday" dress that can be worn for your festive fete now and your Spring Fling later.  This sueded, intricately embroidered dress by Parker checks both those boxes.  Pair it with snakeskin booties and the rich jewel tones and sueded fabrication make it a cool bohemian option for a Winter event.  Or, try it with a neutral platform in the Spring for a stylish nod to the Seventies trend.

Next up, two of my favorite things (leopard and gladiators) just had a baby...and I couldn't be more excited!!!!  The bows are just icing on the cake.  Wear them with leather skinnies and a cream cashmere sweater, or try them with ripped "girlfriend" denim and a navy striped top.  I love them with a flippy skirt and a tweed sweatshirt, or pair them with a shift dress for a chic work ensemble.  Love everything about them...price included.  And J. Crew is offering 30% off today with code GIVEMORE.  Give yourself more shoe options every morning, and buy these

Everyone by now is aware of my (strong) affinity for Frame Denim, and this pair is no exception.  I love the slouchy fit, the perfectly distressed wash and the way that this type of denim makes anything "prim and proper" feel a little less so. I love these jeans with a ribbed henley and supergas.  And I really love this jeans with a slinky tank and heels. Try them with the J.Crew leopard gladiators above and a black cashmere turtleneck for the perfect mix of refined and rugged. But them, wash them, roll them, wear them.

And how about these adorable black moto rain boots? Just because it's raining doesn't mean you have to sacrifice your personal style...and while there are plenty of rain boot options out there, many lean heavily towards the preppy dresser. If that isn't you, then these boots will be a welcome addition to your shoe closet...not to mention they would be a perfect gift (for yourself or someone you love).

And then I spotted this Veda jacket that literally oozes cool: The perfect black lamb skin leather paired with an outrageously stylish shearling collar...doesn't get much better. This is one of those jackets that you buy this year and 3 years later will wear just as frequently. It is a fantastic way to add some edge to an ensemble of jeans and a tee and I love the idea of wearing this as a topper for a floral bohemian maxi dress. Priced at 40% off the original price, this jacket is sure to sell out...get your size before it's gone.

This top by ATM is one of those tops that once in your line-up, you will wonder what you ever wore before it entered your rotation.  A creamy vanilla color, and french terry construction make it classic and wearable while the dropped shoulder and raglan cuffs and hem add edge and interest.  I love it styled as pictured with other creamy whites and neutrals, or throw it over a denim button up with your favorite slouchy beanie.  It adds a casual element to a tweed skirt and would look fantastic with leather skinnies and high-tops.

Lastly, these fringed heels by Joie.  Pairing the perfect neutral color with the perfect amount of funk allows them to be on-point without being trendy.  I love these with (pretty much everything) but these are showstoppers when worn with rolled "girlfriend" jeans and a leather blazer.  Or try them with a long-sleeve maxi dress for a a chic take on the Seventies trend.  The padded insole provides added comfort and they are on sale for under $200 with most sizes left.

We hope you enjoyed this week's top picks for stylish finds at sale prices.  And in other, totally unrelated news...I am OBSESSED with Starbucks new Holiday Spice Flat White drink: espresso with steamed milk that has been infused with cinnamon and cloves.  Obsessed.  Oh, and if you want Friday Buy Day delivered directly to your inbox you can scroll down and add your email address.  Okay, that's it..have a great weekend!

Friday Buy Day 11.13.15

I'm sorry we took last Friday off...at the risk of making you all envious, we were in Mexico celebrating one of our closest friends' wedding nuptials, and I couldn't pull myself away from the poolside margaritas and great company to get to my computer.

But this week, I am back at it, and bringing you a mix of Fall staples and stylish must-haves at discounted prices.

Thought we'd open the gates with a Fall must have.  This Joie wool blend jacket is equal parts classic and cozy.  With a navy blue base and a charcoal gray trim and collar, this wrap around jacket would look just as good with over-the-knee boots and leather leggings as it would over skinny sweats and sneakers.  Wear it to Thanksgiving dinner, or wear it on an airplane as a cozy and chic travel companion.  It will never go out of style and has been marked down to $350 from almost $600 with all sizes left.  Value is not in the cost of the item, but rather in how many times you will wear it.  I assure you, this chic coat will be worn constantly.

This dress made the Friday Buy Day cut for so many reasons...the first being it's versatility.  Wear it with low-heeled booties and a chunky sweater for Happy Hour with the ladies, or try it with a leather jacket and an ankle wrapped heel for a friend's Birthday Party.  It is supremely flattering and the zipper detailing adds a nice edge.  It is priced at under $120 and doesn't have a season or a time-stamp.  When you feel nothing else will do in your closet, you will be so thankful that you have this...

I am very careful about recommending high-heels or high wedges because of the comfort consideration.  I can't stand (literally) to wear uncomfortable shoes yet sometimes the most beautiful 5 inch stiletto has me wishing I would sacrifice the pain for the beauty of the shoe.  These Pedro Garcia wedges  do not require any sacrifice.  They are the perfect dark taupe color that goes with black, cream, navy, green or grey and the perfect shape and height to balance the flare denim that is on every magazine cover.  Pair these beauties with a wide leg jean and a chunky knit sweater and embrace your new favorite (and most flattering) pairing.

If you buy nothing else this week, this is what you should buy...and quickly while your size is still available.  This brand, Muubaa, makes amazing leather goods, and we know because we own multiple pieces.  Their pieces rarely go on sale and this perfect black leather jacket has all sizes in stock at 50% OFF the original price!  At barely over $300, this jacket has quality craftsmanship, calfskin leather and an edgy yet wearable design. A little helpful note: the sizing is UK sizing which typically translates to one size smaller in the US (Ie: UK-sz 4 is US-sz 2) however, they run a little small...so keep this in mind! Amazing jacket, amazing price...

Obsessed with this cropped chunky knit.  The classic color combination allows the fringe and the shape to feel current without feeling over-the-top.  For a boho look, I love it styled with another mismatched print, or for a more modern look I love it styled with a black racer-back tank, grey skinny jeans and booties.  The reasonable price ($120) is a total mis-match for the ridiculously chic Parisian elements of this stylish sweater.

Not real (or) faux leather leggings, but these are a great alternative.  With a faux-leather piping down the leg for a flattering and elongating look, these leggings will come in handy this Fall/Winter.  Pair with a chunky sweater and sneakers, or try them with over-the-knee boots, a tunic and the fitted black leather jacket (above).  Washable, wearable and totally affordable (on sale for $66).

And then this happened.  OMG.  This Valentino studded cuff is all you will need this Season (or next) to bring your outfit to another level.  Wear it with a tank, jeans and heels.  Wear it with a black sweater dress and booties.  Wear it with a midi skirt and cropped blouse to a Holiday party.  On sale for $300 (yes, I repeat...it is on SALE) this is the only jewelry you should be buying.  We are all guilty of getting seduced by costume jewelry....$70 here, $55 there...save yourself the buyer's remorse and the wasted money.  Get yourself (or your friend, or your wife, or your mom...) a piece with some lasting power and buy this bracelet:  it is timeless, edgy, versatile and modern.

Hope you enjoyed this week's Friday Buy Day!  Happy Shopping....

Friday Buy Day 10.30.15

It's another Friday. So it's another Buy Day. As always, we are sharing our favorite finds from around the web...and all are on sale!

First up, this cozy cardigan. Part boho with the Aztec print and part glam with the faux fur collar, this cardigan delivers serious fashion cred at an amazingly affordable price.  Wear it with black ripped jeans and moto boots or try it over your leather leggings with high-tops for a stylish mix of textures. With a price under $80 and all sizes left, this piece makes a big Fall statement with a little price tag.

Next up are these fantastic flares from Frame. As everyone knows, Frame is one of our favorite denim lines. They seem to be flattering on almost everyone and this particular cut is no different. With a higher rise, a slim leg and a flared hem, these jeans are a must-have. Pair them with a ruffled cropped blouse and chunky heels, or try them with a turtleneck sweater and wedge booties.  Get the denim style of the season on sale while they still have your size in stock.

Is your mouth open? Mine was when I first laid eyes on this stunning creation. I absolutely adore everything about it. I love the lace neckline, the rich print, the subtle sexiness of the shape and the way it marries Victorian and Bohemian aesthetics. If you have an upcoming wedding, charity event or cocktail party, this dress is begging to dance.

Back to a more basic requirement...this Enza Costa curved hem top. Seems so simple but is so necessary. Wear it under a vest as the perfect layering piece. Or try it with a cropped jacket, ripped jeans and sneakers for a casual and stylish uniform. It has enough interest to wear solo with its asymmetric hemline, boat neckline and thumb holes but will earn its keep in your closet as your favorite basic.

The perfect Fall vest should be part blanket:) and this one does the trick. Cozy, chic and utterly wearable. Sneakers or boots. Jeans or leather. Date night at the movies or volunteer duty at your child's school, it will work for both.  Most would pair it with something slim on the bottom half, but this vest looks equally as good with the Enza Costa top (above) the Frame flares (above) and a lace-up wedge. On sale and priced under $100, this vest is too good to be left out of your weekly wardrobe.

And to to top it all off, the perfect hat. I am loving the versatility of a slightly wider brim: appropriate for a cozy knit or a floral dress. While well made hats are certainly worth the investment, it is sometimes hard to justify spending $200 on a hat when you know your toddler (or you!) will crush it within weeks. So for all of you who would prefer a less "precious" option, this hat rings in at $49 and delivers all of the style without the hefty price tag.

Lastly, this luscious wine colored top. I love the shape. I love the lace detailing, and I love this look with a skinny flare jean. I imagine this top worn with the denim featured above, a top knot and a deep pink stained lip. Effortless, cool and sexy in a way only something so stylish could be.

Hope you enjoyed reading through this week's favorite sale finds!! Wishing you a safe and happy Halloween!!

Friday Buy Day: Top Fall Picks for Under $300

The children are back in school, we have already had our first rain and things are really starting to  feel like Fall around here.  This week for Friday Buy Day we are bringing you our favorite Fall Essentiials...and all are under $300!

First up, this plaid shirt from Madewell will be a Fall go-to all season long.  Dubbed the "Ex-Boyfriend" shirt because of it's slightly roomier cut and lightweight flannel construction, we picked this as a Fall Essential to pair with leather skinnies, sneakers and a cropped parka.  For a more traditional look, wear it with your favorite denim, riding boots and a chunky knit.  It is machine washable, on-trend, and $79.50 with an additional 20% off.

Next up, your new favorite jeans.  Slight whiskering, a worn-in feel and hitting at the ankle...these Rag and Bone denim are spot on trend yet wearable.  No need to list all the ways to rock these perfectly cool and classic pants.

I am happy to report that these are not optional(:  Pony hair, d'orsay, animal print flats that you will wear with EVERYTHING.  Pair them with a plaid shirt and tomboy jeans.  Wear them with a leather skirt and printed tee, or try them with velvet cords and a turtleneck.  At $268, these are Italian-made, feel super luxe and are worth every penny.  Timeless, chic, bold.

And then there's the leather element...because there always has to be a leather element in your Fall wardrobe.  While the wrap is faux, the skirt is made of 100% real lambskin leather.  It is the perfect length, and high-fashion while being totally approachable (both in appearance, and in price).  Pair it with booties and a faux fur jacket for a night on the town, or rock it during the day with the leopard d'Orsay flats above and a cable-knit sweater.

A "Fall Essentials" list would not be complete without a clutch.  Whether a back-to-school mixer or a Friendsgiving celebration, the Fall is filled with events and you will need something to finish off your chic ensemble.  This navy suede fold-over clutch with a patent leather red stripe will do just that.  We love the classic color combination with the more edgy mix of leathers, and the price point is nice too ($228).  We would rock this clutch with other prints just as often as we would wear it with a monochromatic outfit.  A sample of the perfect outfit: a printed tee, leather jeans, a fur topper, leopard d'Orsay flats and this clutch.

For a fresh and more casual take on the traditional fur jacket, try this plush fleece version.  We love the toast color (although there is a navy option as well), and would wear it with almost anything, and definitely everything posted above.  Try it with a printed tee, leather skinny jeans and the leopard d'Orsay flats.  Or pair it with the flannel shirt, jeans and moto-boots for a more relaxed vibe.  It is a cozy travel companion, and would make the perfect Thanksgiving topper.  At under $200 with the sale code SHOPNOW, this is a Fall Essential that should not be missed.

This is one of those items that once in your closet, you will wonder how you ever lived without it.  A perfect layering piece under your favorite leather jacket with skinny sweats and sneakers, it also looks fantastic with black distressed skinnies, a plush fleece topper and leopard d'orsay flats(all above).  Or, try it tucked into a full, floral skirt with a vibrant necklace come Holiday parties. Paris for the Weekend?  Why not...now you'll have all you need to get there in style.

It seems like everyone has a pair (or three pairs) of booties, and while we love the over-the-knee trend that is dominating the runways right now, that style of boot is not exactly "essential".  These boots are part deconstructed moto-boot and part riding boot, and all you will need to get your fix for a new pair of Fall boots.  Constructed of washed leather for a perfectly worn-in patina, with antiqued hardware and a slouchy shaft that ooze cool these boots are not too rocker, not too equestrian and not too expensive (under $200).  Buy them while they still have stock, and thank us later(:

Lastly, this ethereal dream by Anna Sui.  Tonal embroidery, slight peplum hem and blouson sleeves make this top tower over the other black lace options out there.  Couture in its construction, yet contemporary in its price this beautiful blouse begs to be invited to a cocktail party or a date night.  Timeless, bold, elegant...an enviable combination.

And there you have it...Jack Ryan's top Fall Essentials for under $300.  Dress confidently knowing that can mix and match prints, textures and pieces to make the styles all your own.  Now get to shopping so that when the clouds roll in and skies open up, you have what you need to be chicly covered.

Have a great weekend!!
