Friday Buy Day 12.4.15

We took last week off for the Thanksgiving Holiday but are back at it this week...our favorite finds, always in style, always on sale.

Tis the Season for sparkles and fur, but it is sometimes hard for me to buy "Holiday" clothing because I know I will only wear it once, maybe twice and then I will tire of it.  I love a "Holiday" dress that can be worn for your festive fete now and your Spring Fling later.  This sueded, intricately embroidered dress by Parker checks both those boxes.  Pair it with snakeskin booties and the rich jewel tones and sueded fabrication make it a cool bohemian option for a Winter event.  Or, try it with a neutral platform in the Spring for a stylish nod to the Seventies trend.

Next up, two of my favorite things (leopard and gladiators) just had a baby...and I couldn't be more excited!!!!  The bows are just icing on the cake.  Wear them with leather skinnies and a cream cashmere sweater, or try them with ripped "girlfriend" denim and a navy striped top.  I love them with a flippy skirt and a tweed sweatshirt, or pair them with a shift dress for a chic work ensemble.  Love everything about them...price included.  And J. Everyone by now is aware of my (strong) affinity for Frame Denim, and this pair is no exception.  I love the slouchy fit, the perfectly distressed wash and the way that this type of denim makes anything "prim and proper" feel a little less so. I love these jeans with a ribbed henley and supergas.  And I really love this jeans with a slinky tank and heels. Try them with the J.Crew leopard gladiators above and a black cashmere turtleneck for the perfect mix of refined and rugged. But them, wash them, roll them, wear them. 

And how about these adorable black moto rain boots? Just because it's raining doesn't mean you have to sacrifice your personal style...and while there are plenty of rain boot options out there, many lean heavily towards the preppy dresser. If that isn't you, then these boots will be a welcome addition to your shoe closet...not to mention they would be a perfect gift (for yourself or someone you love).

And then I spotted this Veda jacket that literally oozes cool: The perfect black lamb skin leather paired with an outrageously stylish shearling collar...doesn't get much better. This is one of those jackets that you buy this year and 3 years later will wear just as frequently. It is a fantastic way to add some edge to an ensemble of jeans and a tee and I love the idea of wearing this as a topper for a floral bohemian maxi dress. This top by ATM is one of those tops that once in your line-up, you will wonder what you ever wore before it entered your rotation.  A creamy vanilla color, and french terry construction make it classic and wearable while the dropped shoulder and raglan cuffs and hem add edge and interest.  I love it styled as pictured with other creamy whites and neutrals, or throw it over a denim button up with your favorite slouchy beanie.  It adds a casual element to a tweed skirt and would look fantastic with leather skinnies and high-tops.   

 Lastly, these fringed heels by Joie.  Pairing the perfect neutral color with the perfect amount of funk allows them to be on-point without being trendy.  I love these with (pretty much everything) but these are showstoppers when worn with rolled "girlfriend" jeans and a leather blazer.  Or try them with a long-sleeve maxi dress for a a chic take on the Seventies trend.  The padded insole provides added comfort and they are on sale for under $200 with most sizes left.

Friday Buy Day 5.15.15

It's another Friday which means it's another Buy Day.  Time to  scoop up some great pieces on sale so let's get down to it:

This is the bohemian version of a shirtdress (at the bohemian price of $76).  A drop waist, petite floral print and a flounce hem are the makings of a casually cool and feminine frock.  It would look just as good with gladiator sandals and a panama hat as it would with a denim jacket, wedges and a top knot for a late afternoon/evening event.  It's fresh, modern and sexy without being revealing.

Love this straw tote.  The fringe is spot-on trend without feeling trendy.  The natural raffia and black colors are a classic combination and will always be in style.  Add dark sunglasses, skinny jeans and espadrilles and this "beach bag" is a chic carry on.  Oh the places you'll go...

Everyone knows Shannon and I love a good romper.  Long sleeve, short sleeve, pants or shorts...we like them all!  We found this brand a little while ago and they make really affordable, really stylish pieces with a bohemian vibe.  This crochet romper is only $72 and is darling as a beach cover-up, or we love the idea of pairing it with two other Friday Buy Day items: the black bralette(from Urban Outfitters) and the black Matiko gladiators we featured two weeks ago.  Effortless and super stylish.

These Joie Kidmore sneakers are fantastic.  We found them for $154 (from $220), even though they are still full price at all other retail outlets we checked!  They have all sizes in stock except 9, for now....but I'm sure not for long.

These sneakers are sporty, stylish and the perfect color.  Can't think of another style of shoe that offers the elegance of a smoking slipper while offering the comfort of a sneaker.  These will become your go-to shoe with a cashmere sweater and jeans, as well as with a linen tee and cut-offs.  Get your size before it's sold out! 

We are definitely aware that this is a "trend" but we love it....and for $14.50, everyone is welcome to participate.  These mismatched earrings would be the perfect complement to that more conservative wedding dress ensemble, or a welcome addition to an all black outfit (or all white, or all denim).   With mismatched earrings, a petite choice is the best choice.  Nothing wrong with making your stylish statement subtly...

 It is actually really hard to find the perfectly cropped denim jacket.  Longer ones can look boxy and masculine.  Worse than a manly denim jacket is picking one that is TOO cropped.  No offense...but if your daughter can barely get away with her Justice ensemble, you certainly can't get away with it.  

This one from Paige is under $120 and has all sizes left.  This is a mandatory Spring/Summer staple to layer over your maxi dress or top off embroidered shorts.  With a mid-wash and classic styling, this jacket will last you for years to come.

Must Stop Spot in SF: Upper Fillmore

Often times friends or relatives will call or email asking for great recommendations for a San Francisco visit. This city has so much to offer and so many unique neighborhoods that offering suggestions has never been a challenge.  And, our latest neighborhood obsession is an area called Upper Fillmore.  Since we've been in San Francisco, few neighborhoods have progressed the way Upper Fillmore has.  It has always been the go-to area for the dwellers of tony Pacific Heights, but until more recently many of the restaurants were lacklaster and the shopping was okay, but not great.  All that has changed.  

Every new tenant of this street (food, shop, salon) is a place we want to patronize.  One of the most recent newcomers is the Rag and Bone store.  Prior to Rag and Bone, menswear inspired clothing was always a little tough for us.  It either felt too old, or too masculine. Rag and Bone has changed that in a major way.  In fact, if we had to pick one brand (which would be VERY difficult...but just a hypothetical) it might have to be Rag and Bone.  Classic, yet edgy.  Menswear inspired, yet sexy.  And there stores are no different.  The store on upper Fillmore is clean, modern and full of stylish pieces for men and women.  We are so happy to welcome them to the neighborhood. 

Next Stop: Jane.  A must for breakfast or lunch.  Jane's menu is chalk-full of homemade breads and granolas, gluten-free options and excellent single-source coffee (pour-over of course).  It is "sceney" in a San Francisco sort of way.  Tech millionaires wearing backpacks and hoodies sitting next to perfectly coifed Pacific Heights philanthropists.  Jane was designed by renowned interior designed Ken Fulk and is the perfect place to refuel on a busy shopping day.

Other not to be missed shopping spots include Joie for breezy separates, Elizabeth Charles for an amazing selection of hard to find designers (many Australian), Curve for your Balmain and Erickson Beamon splurges, and Alice & Olivia for a festive party dress.  For dining, we love SPQR (reservations are strongly suggested), Out the Door and Delfina Pizza.

Whether you are visiting the city for the day or planning a trip to San Francisco on your way to Napa, we highly recommend spending a few hours on Upper Fillmore.  Between the shops and the restaurants, your belly will thank you...your bank account will not.
